Cotton

Cotton yoga wear is a popular choice for beginners due to its softness, comfort, and excellent sweat absorption. Natural cotton fibers are skin-friendly and effectively absorb sweat, reducing stuffiness. However, cotton fabrics also have drawbacks, such as being prone to wear and tear and easily deforming, which limits their use in high-intensity yoga practice. Furthermore, pure cotton dries relatively slowly; failing to change soaked clothing promptly may increase the risk of catching a cold.

Polyester Fiber (Polyester)

Polyester fiber, also known as polyester, is a synthetic fiber with wrinkle-resistant and quick-drying properties. In the yoga wear industry, polyester fabric is favored for its crispness, wrinkle resistance, and good shape retention. It helps practitioners maintain the neatness and shape of their clothing when performing challenging poses, while its quick-drying properties reduce discomfort caused by sweat buildup. However, polyester fabric has relatively poor breathability, which may lead to stuffiness after prolonged wear, and its moisture absorption is not as good as natural fibers, making practitioners feel less breathable.

Nylon (Polyamide)

Nylon, also known as polyamide, is a polyamide fiber with excellent abrasion resistance, strength, elasticity, and waterproof and windproof properties. In yoga wear, nylon fabric is highly regarded for its lightness, softness, and elasticity. It not only provides sufficient support for practitioners, helping them complete various postures, but also ensures the garment maintains its shape during frequent stretching and contraction. Furthermore, nylon fabric has relatively good moisture absorption and breathability, effectively wicking away sweat and keeping the body dry. However, high-performance nylon fabric is often expensive, making it one of the preferred materials for high-end yoga wear.

Spandex (Lycra)

Spandex, also known as elastic fiber or Lycra, is a synthetic fiber with excellent elasticity. In yoga wear, spandex is often added as a blend component to other fabrics to enhance the garment's elasticity and comfort. It can stretch freely according to body movement, ensuring the garment conforms to the body's curves in any posture, reducing any feeling of restriction. At the same time, spandex also has good weather and chemical resistance, and is easy to wash and maintain. However, yoga wear made of pure spandex fabric is relatively rare because it is expensive and lacks sufficient support and durability when used alone.
